Wednesday... already?

The week has been busy... at work, we have about 20 visitors from all over the planet. They've flown into Foat Wuth to recieve some training. I'm teaching alongside two others. There're contractors... sailors... wing wipers... jarheads... soldaten... interesting class. Working around the jargon is interesting.

For example:
  • To a sailor, "securing the building" means sweeping the floors, emptying the trash cans, turning off all electrical appliances and the lights, setting the alarms, locking the doors and surrendering the keys to the master at arms for stowage in the key locker.
  • To a soldier, "securing the building" means setting up concertina wire and guard towers around the building, posting sentries at each entrance, inspecting the identification documents of everyone seeking admission and, shooting anyone who attempts to force entry.
  • To a Marine, "securing the building" means assaulting each entrance with coordinated fire teams, sweeping every room and closet, shooting everyone who does not drop to the floor upon hearing the shout "U.S. Marines" and, turning the building over to sailors--so they can perform their own ritual.
  • To an airman, "securing the building" means signing a three-year lease on the structure--with an option to buy.
Tuesday was--HAI!--karate. That's a fun thing to do... sort of like--Japanese/Korean line dancing.
